Listening Section - Action Verb

For Junior High School Students (VII Graders)

Hi champs, how are you?

Are you ready to learn with me?
Today, we are going to learn about Action Verbs through the listening activity. I will devide this whole activity into three section, they are pre listening, whilst listening and post listening.

I. PRE LISTENING SECTION

What are action verbs?
Identifying an action verb is pretty easy. Look at the words below;
  • Walk!
  • Run!
  • Eat!
  • Drink!
The words above show some kind of action. They express something that living thing can do. So, the action verbs are the verbs that indicate what the subject can do.

Example of using action verbs

  • Jenny talks to her mother.
  • Henry eats some cookies.
  • John and Maya walk to the school.
  • The water boiled over the flame.
  • A cheetah will run down its prey.
You can find more the action verbs when you are reading the procedure text. Pay your attention to the video below.

Can you find the action verbs on that video? Of course you can. You can find action verbs such as add, pour, whisk, bake, mix etc.

II. WHILST LISTENING SECTION

After you undertand what is the action verb, try this following exercise to measure your understanding.

III. POST LISTENING SECTION

How is your understanding about the action verbs? Can you decide the action verbs in a short sentence? If you can do the exercise above, are you confident to try another quiz?
